The number of frames per second your DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is capable of handling. A real time second of video is 30 Frames. So a recorded second or video motion that doesn't skip is 30 Frames. So when looking for a good DVR system make sure you get a system that does 30fps for each camera. Some people that are shopping for a cctv camera have an unrealistic expectation about what a surveillance camera can capture. We use a 3.6mm lens which gives you about a 90 degree field of view outward from the lens. Some people think that if you take a 480 lines of resolution camera with a 3.6mm lens that you will be able to get a clear picture both of an object that is 20 feet away and an object that is 80 feet away. This is very far from the truth. While the 3.6mm lens will easily pick up the object in detail at 20 feet away, it cannot pick up the same object at 80 feet away also with the same 3.6mm lens. In order to pick up the object at the further distance, you must either use a larger lens that would make the image more zoomed in or use the more expensive megapixel camera that would allow the operator to zoom in digitally. Digital zoom is possible with high end megapixel cameras, but not with normal resolution CCTV cameras.

A CCTV system consists of many components and each is critical to the quality of the video picture that is reproduced. Many system designers specify very specific criteria for the hardware; however, when it comes to the transmission media, only general information is given. Selecting the correct transmission media for CCTV is one of the most vital aspects of designing a quality
system and yet it is the least understood topic in system design. You can have the highest quality hardware components
in a system but if the video signal is not transmitted by the proper media, your whole system will
suffer. Many of the common video problems with picture quality can be avoided by selecting the proper transmission

Install the cameras, using the supplied hardware with your electric screwdriver. Connect the plug-and-play cables to each camera.
Connect the other end of the plug-and-play cables to the DVR and camera power supplies. Plug in the DVR and camera power supplies.
Connect the DVR to your monitor. If you are using a TV, plug the RCA adapter into the TV video input and plug the DVR video output cable into the RCA adapter. Turn on your TV and set the input to "video in" or "aux in."
